Statement from Alli Jackson on Her Victory for Aurora City Council

November 5th, 2025

As the final ballots are counted, it's clear: Danielle Jurinsky and Amsalu Kassaw no longer have a mathematical path to victory. Aurora voters have chosen Rob Andrews and Alli Jackson to represent them as their new At-Large City Councilmembers.

When I launched this campaign, I was underestimated. People said Danielle Jurinsky couldn’t be beaten. Some doubted my chances, and at times, I even doubted myself. Wise words from notorious Aurora Leader Omar Montgomery kept me going when I was seriously considering dropping out. He reminded me, “If people do not believe in your dream, move on and keep going, we are too deep in the water now to turn back”. Thankfully, these words of encouragement reminded me of what I was fighting for: a city where working-class people are heard, where community comes first, and where diversity, equity, and inclusion are not afterthoughts.

I’m homegrown in Aurora and ran because I wanted to represent hope. I’ve walked these streets, worked in our schools and libraries, and raised my children here. I ran not as a career politician, but as someone who knows how hard it is to make ends meet and who deeply believes in what this city can become when we lead with compassion and courage.

We were outspent 20 to 1, but their money didn’t vote. People did. This campaign was powered by people. I want to thank every volunteer who made this moment possible. Neighbors from every ward gave their nights and weekends to knock doors, make calls, and share hope. This victory is yours.

I especially want to shout out the Black community in Aurora, who have fought back against police brutality and having their voices silenced in council meetings. Your strength and perseverance helped make this moment possible. Say their names: Elijah McClain, Jor'Dell Richardson, Kylin Lewis, and Rajon Belt-Stubblefield.

None of us would be here without each other. This progressive slate—Rob Andrews, Gianina Horton, Amy Wiles, Ruben Medina, and myself—made history together.  Together, we were greater than the sum of our parts. We stayed united, kept our values at the center, and reminded Aurora that a better future is possible. We ran on a community-first vision, and the people of Aurora said yes. Aurora just proved that when you lead with values and organize with heart, people power can beat political machines.

This win belongs to every person who’s ever been told they don’t belong in the room. I’m here to tell you: you do. You always have. And now, your voice will be heard on the Aurora City Council.

Let’s get to work.

Alli Jackson Announces Candidacy for Aurora City Council At-Large Community-First Leader, Social Worker, and Advocate for Families and Economic Growth Enters Race

Aurora, CO – Alli Jackson, a dedicated social worker, mother, and lifelong advocate, has officially announced her candidacy for Aurora City Council At-Large. Running on a “Community First” platform, Jackson is committed to ensuring that Aurora’s growth benefits all residents—not just big corporations or special interests.

"Aurora changed my family’s life, and I’m running to protect that legacy and build a brighter future for our city," said Jackson. "I’ve seen new development bring opportunity, but I’ve also watched too many neighbors struggle to afford living here. We need leadership that puts people first, listens to our community, and ensures that Aurora remains a place where families, workers, and small businesses can thrive."

A Deep Commitment to Aurora

Jackson’s roots in Aurora run deep. The daughter of a Black veteran and a Russian immigrant, she grew up attending Aurora Public Schools and working in the community from the age of 16. Her experience spans customer service, higher education, and social services, giving her a firsthand understanding of the challenges and opportunities residents face.

As a social worker, homeowner, and both a biological and foster mom, Jackson has dedicated her career to fighting for families and youth. She has served on Aurora’s Charter Review Board, participated in civic leadership training, and attended ward meetings, proving her commitment to local government and community engagement.

A Campaign Focused on the People

Jackson promises to be a visible, accessible, and engaged leader. "I will meet the community where they are—not just in city council chambers, but in our neighborhoods, schools, and small businesses," she said. "Aurora’s diversity is our strength, and I will fight for policies that reflect the needs of all our residents, not just the powerful few."

Running for an At-Large seat, Jackson will represent all of Aurora and invites community members to join the movement and share their voices on what Aurora needs to thrive.
